We’re back with another round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet. First, there are several high ticket gold and platinum coins to be released by the United States Mint this month. Today, the US Mint will release the 2011-W Uncirculated Gold Eagle. This product type has seen some big winners in previous years as low orders led to low mintages.

Also this month, the US Mint will release several other high ticket items that might stretch collector budgets.

The latest sales report takes focus on the US Mint’s numismatic gold coins, which displayed strength for the recently released 2011 Proof Gold Eagles and gold commemorative coins.

And now for some notable auctions. First, an “11 cent coin” or a 2000 Lincoln Cent struck on a dime. The mint error is authenticated by NGC and graded MS 67.

Next, an 1870-CC Seated Liberty Half Dollar graded NGC VG 8. This coin was struck in the first year of production at the Carson City Mint and had a mintage of 54,617 pieces.

Last, a GSA Carson City Collectors Pack, that includes the 1882-CC, 1883-CC, and 1884-CC Morgan Dollars, along with brochures, boxes, and forms.
