Kia has announced pricing for its 2011 Optima Hybrid (read all about it here), and it can be yours for $27,250. The Optima hybrid shares its gasoline-electric drivetrain with the Hyundai Sonata hybrid, meaning it retains that car’s 2.4-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gas engine, electric motor, and six-speed automatic transmission. While all trim levels of the gasoline-only Optima are priced lower than comparable Sonatas, this is not the case with the hybrids. The Optima hybrid is priced $705 more than the Sonata hybrid, which starts at $26,545.
The two cars share an almost identical level of standard equipment, except Kia is spec’ing its UVO voice-activated infotainment system as standard on the Optima hybrid. UVO, which Kia co-developed with Microsoft, is basically Kia’s take on Ford’s SYNC system, and in the Optima hybrid it is also paired with a standard backup camera. The 2011 Optima Hybrid goes on sale this June, and be sure to check back for first driving impressions soon.
