On June 4, Pakistani sources reported the death of al Qaeda leader Muhammad Ilyas Kashmiri in a U.S. drone strike. If true, Bruce Riedel writes that this development deals a huge hit to the terror cell, still reeling from the killing of Osama bin Laden in early May, and could help improve strained U.S.-Pakistan relations.
