Apple Responds To Location Tracking Claims

Apple has today responded to the allegations of it tracking iPhone users locations, and the GPS data that is stored within the consolidated.db iPhone file. Explaining that it is not tracking the location of your iPhone and has never done so, and has no plans to ever do so in the future.

A full Q&A document has been released by Apple, (view the full Q&A after the jump) answering many of the questions that have been raised over the past few days. With Apple announcing that a new update will be released in the next few weeks to tackle the issues.

The update will : reduces the size of the crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower database cached on the iPhone, ceases backing up this cache, and delete this cache entirely when Location Services is turned off.

Apple also explains that it will tackle the encryption issue of the data file within the next major release of its iOS software.
