We’re back for another round up of fresh coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! The United States Mint has recently released the second annual set for this year. Also, all 2010 Proof Gold Eagles are now sold out, a consumer advisory about the bogus September 11 coins, precious metals prices and coin products, results from Heritage’s NYINC and FUN auctions, lucky coin story, Susan B. The United States Mint has released the 2011 Silver Proof Set. In line with the rising price of silver, the price of the annual set been increased for the third consecutive year.

The remaining 2010 Proof Gold Eagles have now sold out. Meanwhile, prices for other numismatic gold products were reduced today.

The US Mint has issued a consumer advisory about the September 11 “coins” being marketed by National Collector’s Mint. This follows recent calls from a Senator and Congressman to have the FTC crackdown on the bogus coins.

How will higher precious metals prices impact the product offerings and marketing strategies of the various coin issuing authorities?

Ron Paul has become the chairman of the Domestic Monetary Policy subcommittee of the House Committee on Financial Services. Some of his recent proposals suggest that the next two years will be interesting.

A summary and highlights from Heritage’s World & Ancient Coin auctions at the New York International Numismatic Convention, which realized more than $9.28 million.

While the Susan B. Anthony Dollar has been criticized for a variety of reasons, the obverse design did portray an accurate depiction of the famous womens suffragist.

And now for some notable auctions. First, an example of the 1853 Seated Liberty Quarter with rays and arrows graded NGC MS 65. The arrows on the obverse and rays on the reverse were added to the coin to signify a reduction in weight.

Next, a 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar graded NGC PF 69 Cameo with the Star designation.

Last, the 2001-W Capitol Visitor Center $5 Gold Coin graded NGC MS 70. The commemorative coin had a low mintage of 6,761.
