Composting Conveniently

Organic Gardening And Green Lifestyle

Composting is an excellent way to reduce your household waste and also help you make a wonderful, eco-friendly garden. It is, however, a bit of a chore and many people struggle to keep it up, especially as it is so much easier to just chuck stuff in the trash. If you make composting simple and easy with tools like leaf blowers and compost bins you will find it far easier to keep up this good habit.

As composts are located outside it can be a pain trekking out there to throw in your waste – this is especially true if you have to do so after every meal. To cut this out you should get a mini-bin which you can leave in your kitchen – fill this up with your compost and take it out every day or two. The food won’t start to smell for quite a few days, so you will be OK provided you change it regularly.

You should also try to have your own compost in your backyard or somewhere else on your property – some people like to join communal schemes and do this with their neighbors. This is a great idea, but it is also a fair bit more effort, and if you are struggling to motivate yourself to compost you don’t need to extend your walk to throw things out. Get your own one and keep it close by – make it highly visible so you’ll be reminded to keep the habit up.

Composts can handle much more than food, in fact dead leaves are among some of the best things to target as they can be used as mulch to provide nutrients to soil. So gather up your leaves in the fall, compost them over the winter and spread them in the spring – this will do your garden wonders and help you avoid purchasing fertilizer. To make this whole process easier get a leaf blower and sweep all the leaves up that way.

Looking after the environment is incredibly important, yet it is also a fair bit of effort. If you minimize
this you will be more likely to do a good job composting – doing things conveniently is actually the
most environmental option.
