Moving on… a bill has been introduced seeking $10 gold commemoratives for the Marine Corps Aviation Centennial. If approved, the coins would be issued in 2015, ten years after the 2005 Marine Corps Silver Dollars.
The Dollar Coin Alliance has spent $250,000 lobbying Congress to eliminate the $1 banknote. The article explains the changes in the economic and political climate that provide renewed hope for a change.
Heritage’s World & Ancient Coins auction held in conjunction with the Chicago International Coin Fair realized more than $9.6 million. One of the top lots was the 1928 Chinese Auto Dollar that brought $74,750.
