How to Run Through that First Cold Mile

After a fairly mild December (I actually ran outside in shorts and a T-shirt several times last month), it seems like winter, with its freezing temps and bitter wind, has finally come to my part of the country.  It's definitely not ideal running conditions. But I find that, as long as I'm dressed appropriately for cold weather running, it's that first mile that is the toughest. Once I make it through that, I'm warmed-up and feel comfortable for the rest of my run. If you're like me and love running outside in the winter, but could do without that first painful mile, try some of these tips to make it a little easier:
