Welcome back to Coin Update!

We’re here to bring you another fresh round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! First, the weekly sales report of United States Mint numismatic products showed increases for several gold and silver products. Also, guessing the price of the 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set, circulating Sacagawea Dollars, 1870-CC Double Eagle theft, ANA balanced budget, collecting quarter dollars, ANA Fall convention, Perth Mint silver coin prices, and notable auctions. On to the links…

A new US Mint numismatic product sales report shows renewed interest in various gold and silver products, and a sell out for the individual one ounce 2011 Proof Gold Eagle.

The US Mint’s latest product release is the Vicksburg Quarter Three Coin Set.

On the horizon is the 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set, with sales scheduled to being on October 27. Dave Harper and Coin Collector’s Blog attempt to guess the price of the offering.

In Ecuador where the U.S. dollar is the official currency, Sacagawea Dollars “are ubiquitous“. A photo is included in the article which shows the dollar coins worn from extensive circulation.

On the other side of the coin, a recent survey indicated that most Americans oppose doing away with the dollar bill. The survey, which can be accessed by clicking the icon in the left sidebar of the linked page, seems a bit odd in that the first half contains questions about the economy, the President, and Congress, before asking about dollar coins.

A newly discovered and finest known 1870-CC Double Eagle was stolen from a Brinks shipment in transit from PCGS to Heritage Auctions.

The ANA has approved a balanced operating budget and commenced the search for a new executive director. Here is a link to a pdf of the press release.

An overview of collecting United States quarter dollars by type, which can be a challenge.

An article about a 90-year-old sculptor who has produced more than 200 coins for 33 countries, including four of the most recent £1 coins in circulation in the UK.

Coin World has some highlights from the recently conducted Heritage auction for the ANA Fall Convention. The sale was led by an 1854-O Double Eagle graded PCGS AU55 which brought $431,250.

Coin Rarities & Related Topics focuses on some of the dimes and quarters included in the auction.

Following similar action by the US Mint, the Perth Mint of Australia has reduced the prices for various numismatic silver coins.

And now for some notable auctions. First, a Lincoln Cent struck 40% off center on a dime planchet authenticated by PCGS and graded MS66.

Next, one of the US Mint’s more interesting numismatic products, the 1997 Law Enforcement Insignia Set, which includes a lapel pin and patch, along with the commemorative silver dollar.

Last, an example of the 1952 Proof Washington Quarter “Superbird” variety graded PCGS PR66 Cameo. The letter “S” appears on the chest of the eagle on the reverse of the coin.

That’s it for the update. Have a great evening!
