We’re back for a fresh round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet. The latest coin legislation seeks to authorize silver dollars for the 75th anniversary of the March of Dimes. Also, more information on the 25th anniversary Silver eagle sets, proof gold eagle sell out, Susan B. Anthony Dollars, pro and con $1 coins, Stack’s Bowers Galleries upcoming auctions, video news, coin values and prices, $20 silver coin from the Royal Canadian Mint, and notable auctions. A bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives seeking commemorative silver dollars to mark the 75th Anniversary of the March of Dimes.

Some new information about the 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle Sets is provided in this CoinWorld article. Production of the maximum 100,000 sets has been completed and the bullion coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint.

After about a month and a half at the near sell out level, the individual one ounce 2011 Proof Gold Eagles have finally officially sold out. The coins do remain available through the four coin set option.

Did you know that there was also a controversy about the motto “In God We Trust” on the Susan B. Anthony Dollar?

An editorial in the LA Times suggests eliminating cents and making nickels out of cheaper materials, in addition to replacing $1 bills with coins.

A columnist who wrote against dollar coins and sent the the article to his representatives in Congress received a form response explaining that the status of the coins is dependent on “both legislation and the discretion of the U. S. Mint.” (When the Mint is asked about it, they have generally said it is completely up to Congress.)

Stack’s Bowers Galleries will offer part one of the Teich Family Collection and more than 2,800 world coins at the Whitman Coin and Collectibles Baltimore Auction held November 14-19. Each article includes some interesting background and history.

The Royal Canadian Mint is offering a $20 silver coin at face value. The coin contains .243 ounces of silver worth about $8 and is shown as today’s coin image.

And now for some notable auctions.First, a lot of 20 GSA Morgan Silver Dollars, which includes some non-Carson City Mint coins.

Next, a group of 16 $25 bags of National Park Quarters, including Philadelphia and Denver bags from Hot Springs to Gettysburg. The bid is currently below the face value and well below the US Mint’s issue price of $49.95 per bag.

Last, a 1911-S Saint Gaudens Double Eagle graded PCGS MS62 in one of the so-called “Doily holders.”
