We’re back for another fresh round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! First, slower sales seem to be setting up potential low mintages for some of the US Mint’s numismatic products. Also, the latest US Mint sales report, the Fall Long Beach Expo, hearing on sound money, collecting U.S. coin series, Medal of Honor coins, Indian Head Quarter Eagle set, clad coins, Royal Australian Mint, and notable auctions. The latest US Mint sales report shows slower sales for gold coins, following several round of price increases.

A report on the recently concluded Fall Long Beach Expo from Numismatic Americana.

Ron Paul, the Chairman of the Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology Subcommittee, held a hearing “Road Map to Sound Money” concerning his bill to repeal legal tender laws and prohibit taxes on coins and bullion. There doesn’t seem to be much coverage of the hearing, but here’s a link to the archived webcast.

The PCGS Article Library has part one of a four part series exploring options for collecting different series of United States Coins. This part covers Colonial issues to three cent pieces.

A two coin set of Medal of Honor Commemorative Coins was presented to Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, a World War II recipient of the Medal of Honor. The coins will go on display at the Capitol Visitor Center.

An interesting round of coin related questions and answers, including the reason why the names of people depicted on circulating U.S. coins do not appear within the coin designs.

With everyone recently focusing on gold and silver coins, this might be the time to pick up some low mintage clad coins.

Here is a brief report on an exhibit from the Royal Australian Mint on their 2012 releases and a showcase of mint mistakes. Unfortunately, there are no pictures.

An exhibit at the Guggenheim consists of $100,000 in one dollar bills pinned to the gallery walls. This time there are pictures.

And now for some notable auctions. First, here’s the Australian 2000 Year of the Dragon 2 oz. Silver Coin from the Lunar Series I. This year’s release seems to have generated some strong interest.

Next, the low mintage 1909-S Indian Head Cent graded PCGS MS64RB.

Last, a collection of 2007-2010 First Spouse Bronze Medals in a Whitman album.
