Using a combination of hardware, software algorithms and chemistry the ScentScape by Scent Sciences hopes to bring the added dimension of smells to your gaming experience.
The unit pictured below simply plugs into your PC or gaming console via USB and generates smells related to your gaming experience using scent cartridges.
The ScentScape uses 20 basic scent cartridges to try and then create other smells and will provide around 200 hours depending on the smells your game is creating. I guess if your playing a zombie game the smell of stenching flesh cartridges might run down a little quicker than others.
You can also control in intensity of the smell created by using a ‘smell volume control’ and President and CEO, Bill Wiles says that gamers will also be able to use the company’s SDK along with a special ScentEditor application to create their own scent-enabled codes for games. Users will then be able to share the smell codes they have created with other gamers for them to use in their own ScentScape system.
Unfortunately no information on pricing has been released as yet but Scent Sciences hope to bring their ScentScape creation to market later this year.
