Apple App Store Breaks Records With 10 Billionth Download

Geeky Gadgets - Gadgets, Geek Gadgets, Cool Gadgets, Technology ...

A few posts ago we excitedly reported how close the App Store was to reaching the 10 billion mark. Well, it has happened, boys and girls. 10 billion (with a ‘b’) individual apps have transformed peoples lives as of today.

10 billion apps

The lucky 10 billionth dude or chick is eligible for a lot of money, like a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card for extra purchases on the App Store. MacPhun is also giving away $5,000 to the same guy or gal for extra app fun.

Not to be outdone (even if they’ve just been outdone by a few billions), closest competitor the Android Marketplace have 2.75 billion downloads to their credit. That’s a growing number, mind you, but still a long way off from Apple’s latest coup.

Man, 10 billion downloads? That’s 4 billion more than Earth’s population! 10 billion!

Broken records have a bad habit of accelerating their breaking speed. So when do you think will the Apple App Store register their 20 billionth download?
