Arch Film Critic Roger Ebert Tears Tron Legacy Apart

Geeky Gadgets - Gadgets, Geek Gadgets, Cool Gadgets, Technology ...

Flaming Frisbees! A Daft Punk soundtrack that has “urgent force”! Awesome CGI and eye-melting special effects! These and more are given their just praise by Robert Ebert, mandarin of movies, in his review of Tron Legacy published yesterday. But wait, we’ve only mentioned the good stuff. As the title of this post indicates, he also had a few bad things to bash the holiday hit with.

Tron Legacy

Ebert’s ultimate judgment: “I expect Tron: Legacy to be a phenomenon at the box office for a week or so. It may not have legs, because its appeal is too one-dimensional for an audience much beyond immediate responders. When 2001 was in theaters, there were fans who got stoned and sneaked in during the intermission for the sound-and-light trip. I hesitate to suggest that for Tron: Legacy, but the plot won’t suffer.”

Oops, we just spoiled the ending of Ebert’s near-scientific scrutiny of the Tron specimen. But don’t despair, because you can read the whole piece by checking the source link. Enjoy.

If your appetite for the movie has been spoiled, we apologize. This is but the latest stretch of mileage Tron Legacy has garnered here at Geeky Gadgets for the past few months. The best thing to do is go see the movie for yourself and then criticize it. Nothing beats being your own worst Roger Ebert.
