We’re back for another round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! First, the US Mint has provided another set of design candidates for two of the 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters that were recently reviewed by the Commission of Fine Arts. Also, the 2012 American Platinum Eagle design candidates, Saint Gaudens coinage, US Mint circulating coinage output, gold and silver as currency in Colorado, record price for a coin in India, Westward Journey Nickels, Morgan Dollars, e-book review, and notable auctions. Here is a look at the second round of design candidates that the US Mint provided for the 2013 Perry’s Victory Quarter and 2013 Fort McHenry Quarter. The CFA and CCAC did not make a recommendation from the original slate of candidates.
CoinWorld has coverage of the CFA’s February 16 meeting where they again rejected the designs for Fort McHenry. The CCAC will make their review on February 28.

And now for some notable auctions. First, the 2011-P Medal of Honor $5 Gold Coin graded PCGS MS70. The prices for this lower mintage commemorative seem to have been moving up.
Next, the 1936 Battle of Gettysburg Half Dollar graded NGC MS 66. This popular early commemorative was issued for the 75th anniversary of the pivotal Civil War battle.
