We’re back for one more round up of coin collecting news and articles before the weekend break! To start, further details on the Federal Reserve Banks $1 coin hoard, recommendations for legislative action, and reactions from some members of Congress. A recently issued report from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System provided details on the growing hoard of $1 coin and the related costs. If recommended actions are taken, the Presidential and Native American Dollars series would be in for some changes.

In response to the stockpile of $1 coins, three Senators have written to the Fed Chairman and Acting Director of the US Mint seeking answers. A Congresswoman has indicated that she will introduce a bill calling for an immediate halt to the production of all dollar coins.

The latest Coingrader Capsule shows some examples of whizzing, which constitutes numismatic malpractice.

The Washington Post reports on a new bill seeking commemorative coins for the 75th anniversary of the Baseball Hall of Fame. With already 294 cosponsors, it seems likely that the bill will pass.

And now for some notable auctions. First, here is an unopened box of 100 2007-W American Silver Eagles. These are the collectible uncirculated versions, which have a much lower mintage than the bullion versions.

To go with one of today’s articles, here is an auction for a collection of 1950-1964 Proof Roosevelt Dimes.

Last, the 2008-W Uncirculated Gold Buffalo Four Coin Set, with all coins graded NGC MS 70.
