5 Companies Americans Can Be Proud Of
Filed under: Berkshire Hathaway, Starbucks, Costco, Whole Foods, Stocks in the News, Market News
When a big company gains enough momentum that its direction becomes self-sustaining, its influence can ripple through society -- for better or worse. Whether it's the environment being polluted with reckless abandon or CEOs lining their pockets at the expense of employees, shareholders, and consumers, recent headlines show plenty of evidence of capitalism at its worst.

Historical Values of Lincoln Cents
Lincoln cents, which have been in minted since 1909, are not only the United States’ longest-running coin series, but they are also one of the world’s most popular coins to collect. Millions of coin collectors clamor to assemble complete date-and-mintmark sets of Lincoln cents, and many will pay thousands of dollars just to own an entire run of this beloved one cent series.
Lincoln pennies have been popular as collector coins since the 1930s, when the first coin boards, coin albums, and coin folders were published to display Lincoln cent collectors. Because this coin is so widely collected, it goes without saying that demand for the scarcer dates is extremely high. This also translates to high values for many of the rare and semi-key Lincoln cents.
Today, many Lincoln cents are worth more than $25 each, and some are even worth hundreds of dollars. That hasn’t always been the case, though. Below is a look at values for the rare and semi-key Lincoln cents over the course of the last 50 years. As you will see, many Lincoln cents have dramatically increased in value of the last several decades. Many values have outpaced inflation! Some, however, have actually decreased in value.
These values are culled from the 1965, 1985, and 2005 editions of A Guide Book of United States Coins, by R.S. Yeoman.

Acura NSX Concept Gets Painted Proper Sports-Car Red [Beijing Auto Show]
When it debuted in January at the Detroit auto show, the Acura NSX concept wore techy silver paint, and that didn’t change when the car made an appearance in Geneva wearing Honda logos. At the Beijing show, the car reverted to its luxury-brand badge—and showed up in a racy shade of red.
A sports car usually looks best in red, and we definitely dig the hue on the NSX. Like the concept, the 2015 production model will feature a mid-mounted V-6 bolted to a dual-clutch automatic transmission that integrates an electric motor and drives the rear wheels. Two front-mounted electric motors will spin the front wheels, providing what Acura has dubbed Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. (Read more about how it works here in front-drive applications; the idea is simply applied in reverse for the NSX.) The car is being developed in the States and will be built in Ohio.

Twitter was polygraph in bin Laden death news
Celebs like Kim Kardashian, DJ Pauly D of "Jersey Shore," and even Steve Martin played a greater role than many of us realized in spreading the word on Twitter that Osama bin Laden had been killed. A year later, researchers are studying that explosion of social media activity as a way of gauging "certainty" in an age of Internet news.
One Year Later: The Impact of Bin Laden's Death on Al Qaeda
May 2 marks one year since al Qaeda leader and 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden was slain by U.S. Navy SEALS in his compound in Pakistan. The anniversary opens questions about America’s national security and the strength of the jihadist movement after the death of its most charismatic leader. Daniel Byman examines the issue. Tips for Racing in Warm Weather
April can be a tricky time to race a marathon because, although the dates of marathons are usually chosen to coincide with cool temperatures, you may have the unfortunate luck of getting an extremely hot and humid race day. Running during those conditions in April is even more difficult than doing it in July or August because, after training in the cold all winter, most runners are not prepared to run in the heat and humidity.
